This decrease is due in particular to the repercussions of the drought impacting the lack of employment in the agricultural activity. The decrease in agricultural crops was accompanied by a rise in prices. There has, also, been a decrease in the production of the animal sector and an increase in the cost of raising livestock.
The High Commission for Planning stated that the unemployment rate in rural agricultural areas stabilized last September, at 5.2%. it is important to note that the level of unemployment does not reflect the reality of employment in rural areas due to underemployment and employment outside the social security system.
