As part of the strike, classes were suspended for one hour in all UNRWA schools. UNRWA medical offices also suspended their activities for one hour.
Over the past five years, UNRWA has recruited approximately 2,000 contractual teachers, doctors and nurses. The UN agency has only given tenure to a few of them, using the financial crisis it has been experiencing for the past few years as a pretext.
