According to the semi-annual report of the Financial Supervisory Board for the year 2021, Iraqi parliamentarian Alia Nassif revealed that the Malaysian Petronas company, which operates the Al-Gharaf oil field, pays “foreign workers monthly salaries of up to 85,000 dollars per worker… the equivalent to the salaries of 246 Iraqi employees or 123 Iraqi engineers.”
The deputy called for controlling the salaries of foreign workers and making them equal to the salaries of Iraqi workers, calling on the government to conduct a revision of contracts that involve a waste of public money, as she put it.
