According to the official Mauritanian news agency, under this agreement, the Mauritanian government will receive logistical and technical assistance in the field of security and training from Spain, to support the country’s efforts to fight irregular migration, smuggling, and human trafficking.
It is worth noting that the city of Nouadhibou on the Atlantic coast in Mauritania has, in recent years, become a destination for African migrants to cross to Europe to escape wars and the deteriorating economic conditions in their countries.
