The Mauritanian government had indeed committed itself to opening an annual recruitment concours for independent nurses, which never took place.
According to the coordination, there are about 2,000 independent nurses who are trained and work in hospitals but do not have a diploma.
The coordination said that they have been working in the services of all hospitals through regional contracts for years without benefiting from any of their rights.
