These protests come after the Ministry of Education warned that all substitute teachers who boycotted the start of the school year will be considered as having abandoned their posts and will therefore be replaced. However, the federation has called on all teachers to continue their protests to defend their rights.
It is worth noting that substitute and contractual teachers with an applied bachelor degree began the school year with several protests to denounce how the ministry deals with their issues.
While some 6,135 teachers are affected by this situation, the ministry has announced that, in light of the economic situation in Tunisia, their permanent recruitment will be done in phases and that a mechanism will soon be put in place to ensure that they are regularly and correctly paid.
