On October 18, in Amman, the launch of a new command, control, and operation centre has been announced. Its aim is to ensure standardized inspection procedures in all governorates of the country, with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of the workplace inspection department, improving compliance with decent work rules in the local private sector, and improving working conditions for all workers, especially in the agricultural sector.
In this context, Farida Khan, Decent Work Department employee and ILO Country Coordinator in Jordan stated that “the workplace inspection process is a very important mechanism to support the principles of decent work. Inspection is not just a series of fines issued when labour law is violated, but an opportunity to provide practical guidance to improve compliance with labour standards.”
