The dispute between the administration and the workers arose last June following the creation of a base union under the Moroccan Workers’ Union (UMT). The administration, which specialises in the production of milk and dairy products, reacted by transferring the members of the union office to distant branches. The situation has become more complicated when the administration dismissed other workers for their trade union activities.
The protestors denounced these punitive measures taken by the administration and called for all employees, whether transferred or dismissed, to get their jobs back.
