The victory of the right-wing alliance, led by the Fratelli d’Italia party headed by Giorgia Meloni who will chair the next government, is putting migrants at risk.
NGOs had expressed similar concerns during the election campaign when former interior minister Matteo Salvini, who is facing legal action in a human rights case, chose the slogan “No to immigration boats.”
Organisations now expect migrants to face mass expulsions and more difficulties in regularising their stay.
