In this context, Al-Arabi Post reported, citing sources from the Palestinian Ministry of Finance in Ramallah, that Palestine “will start implementing a financial plan that aims to refer more than 30,000 public employees to early retirement during the last quarter of this year and the first quarter of 2023, With the aim of reaching a salary bill of close to 50% of the monthly revenue.”
It is reported that the number of public employees currently stands at 139,000. Therefore, the number will decrease to 105-110,000, and therefore the salary bill for these employees will decrease from the budget by about 130-140 million shekels, and the total bill for employees’ salaries will reach 600 million shekels.
