At a press conference, the president of the syndicate, Lina Miari, said that the syndicate had announced a labour dispute on 21 June and that the demands have been under negotiation for a year.
The syndicate is demanding the implementation of the 2016 staff agreement on a 15% salary increase, access to insurance, the revision of employment contracts for better professional stability, and the improvement of academic criteria. These demands have not been met by the administration.
The administrative body of the syndicate announced on 23 September the suspension of its actions for 48 hours to respond “to mediators from inside and outside the university” with the exception of the hunger strike.
