The charter, which was made public on Wednesday after a summer marked by climate change disasters, lists commitments to which some 30 editorial offices, schools, and associations representing the media have also signed up.
Journalists are first and foremost urged to “treat climate, life and social justice in a transversal manner.” The text also recommends that they “educate” and “question the lexicon and images used”, so as to avoid seeing, for example, photos of children playing in the water to illustrate deadly heat waves.
