The agreement stipulated an increase for the employees of public institutions and enterprises by 5% annually, for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025, to be calculated on the basis of the gross monthly wage, and to enter into force starting from October 2022.
This agreement also approved an increase in the guaranteed minimum wage by 7%, starting from October 2022, in addition to a general increase in the wages of public servants, distributed in 3 parts (with varying values according to professional categories), over the years 2023, 2024 and 2025.
These increases come in response to the demands of the UGTT in the strike launched by workers in public sector institutions on June 16 to improve their financial conditions in light of the inflation the country is witnessing.
It is worth noting that Tunisia, which is going through an economic crisis due to political instability since 2011, is in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to obtain a loan of about two billion dollars to finance its budget and confront the financial crisis it is facing.
