Morocco: SPP workers protest

In a press release, the SPP syndicate called on the company to have negotiations with the workers to solve the issues at stake. The syndicate called for a salary increase, payment of extra-working hours, reviewing certain grants and allowances, and recruitment of new workers to replace those who went into retirement.

The workers also complained about the pressure the administration puts on workers after opening a synodical office affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CDT). In this context, they noted that two members of the syndicate have been suspended.

It is worth noting that the workers’ representatives reached an agreement with the company two months ago, which was not finally signed by the administration. The syndicate denounced the administration not taking the agreement seriously, while other sources said that it is only a matter of time before the agreement is finalised.
