Having left the Lebanese city of Tripoli, the migrants have been calling for help through their families and activists to the European coastguard. According to initial reports, two children on board died.
In a statement to the Associated Press, the brother of one of the migrants said that “the boat may capsize and the passengers are scooping water with a few buckets,” adding that the boat, designed for five passengers, is carrying 60 people.
