This week, the Lebanese Minister of Labour announced his withdrawal from mediation between the government and the employees, expressing his rejection of the open strike, despite his recognition of the legitimacy of the employees’ demands.
On the other hand, the Employees’ Association accused the Minister of Labour of dismissing his promises towards the employees’ demands.
It is worth noting that public sector employees have been on strike since June 13 to protest their deteriorating economic conditions, and to demand a salary increase, an increase in transportation allowance, and an improvement in social services.
