Palestine: Bethlehem University workers continue their strike

In a statement, the trade union recalled that the strike of the Council began on June 27, 2022 upon a favourable opinion that was proposed to a legal consultation of the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Justice, and the Bar Association.

The consultation, which is binding on both parties (the union and the administration), was intended to clarify the issue of workers’ eligibility for end-of-service salaries and the alignment of the salaries of temporary employees with the exchange rate. The union hopes to reach an agreement on all these issues once the binding legal consultation is completed.

However, the administration of Bethlehem University has not responded to this initiative, leading the trade union to conclude that it is not taking the crisis seriously and that it is solely responsible for maintaining the strike and disrupting the academic year.
