The protest came after the assassination of Amer Alvin, director of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) operating in northern Syria, by targeting his car with an explosive device in the city of Al-Bab, east of Aleppo.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) condemned the assassination of Amer Alvin. The organization’s regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, Adele Khader, stated that the “relief organization” that Alvin was running, has been a partner of UNICEF for more than 6 years, “providing water aid and sanitation to more than 270,000 people in north-western Syria, including many children,” calling on all warring parties to allow humanitarian organizations to carry out their work.
