Morocco and Spain: After two years of closure, land borders in Ceuta and Melilla reopen

While European travellers and citizens with Schengen visas have begun to cross these borders, the crossing of Moroccan citizens working in Ceuta and Melilla will start from May 31. Some Moroccans who were stuck in Ceuta were able to cross and return in normal conditions.

It is worth noting that the reopening of the crossings was part of a roadmap to normalize relations between Rabat and Madrid announced in early April 2022. The agreement included the resumption of sea trips, cooperation in combating irregular migration, and measures for Moroccans residing in Europe to cross the two countries’ ports during the next summer vacation.
