Lebanon: FENASOL calls for civil disobedience on International Workers’ Day

During a meeting of the executive board of the trade union center, held in preparation for International Workers’ Day, FENASOL discussed the economic and social situation caused by the current crisis in the country, noting an unprecedented rise in the price of fuel and medical care, as well as the dominance of the parallel market in daily life. At the end of the meeting, FENASOL called on the Lebanese to revolt against “the government of the IMF and the rich”.

The president of the trade union center said that workers, civil servants and people with limited income are those who suffer the consequences of the crisis, adding that the percentage of unemployed in Lebanon has exceeded 50%. The trade union leader stressed the “need for an escalation of demands in the street.”
