GFJTU stated these points in a position paper entitled “Climate change: Jordan’s workers are part of a fair transition” in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation on March 15th.
In the paper, the federation called for harmonizing local legislation in the field of work with international conventions and charters ratified by Jordan, during the fair transition.
GFJTU called for promoting decent work standards in the work environment and developing occupational health and safety measures to cover all risks posed by the repercussions of climate change. In addition to developing the social protection system, making social insurance compatible with the stage of a just transition towards a sustainable economy should be addressed.
