The union, which is part of the Iraqi Federation of Trade Unions, has tried to intervene with the Ministry of Oil and the Pipelines administration to cancel the decision to dismiss workers.
The contracts of 600 daily-wage workers were suspended earlier this year by the Oil Ministry. The workers concerned had reached the legal work period at the end of which they are eligible for permanent contracts.
