In an article published on its Facebook page, the centre enumerated a number of these violations, noting the failure to apply the Labour and Social Security Law to this category of workers, the lack of protection from work injuries, the lack of occupational safety and health conditions, and the delay in disbursing their financial dues. Girls working in agriculture, witness the problems of commuting to work sites, and some violations may amount to harassment.
According to the centre, this number of violations is due to the absence of inspection in this sector.
In this context, the centre called for the activation of the agricultural workers’ system, which was issued last year, which stipulates the inclusion of Jordanian and non-Jordanian agricultural workers in the labour law, pointing to the importance of creating a trade union for the agricultural sector to protect their rights.
