The regional offices of 14 public sector trade unions said the protestors are demanding the updating of the geographical zone subsidy based on the current base salary instead of the 1989 base salary, with retroactive effect.
The protesters are also demanding the generalisation of the southern grant at a rate of 50% for all civil servants, the increase of the housing grant to 15,000 Algerian dinars, and the calculation of the seniority grant in the South on retirement based on presidential decree number 72/199.
