The protest was organized in front of the governorate headquarters to call for the establishment of municipal and health services in the region. The police violently attacked the protesters and arrested several of them.
The General Federation of Iraqi Trade Unions in this context issued a statement condemning the police violence and calling for the release of the two trade unionists and all protesters.
