Published by Information International, an independent research firm, the study said that “the number of migrants and travellers in 2021 reached 79,134 people compared to 17,721 in 2020, an increase of 346%,” adding that this is the largest increase in the last five years.
“The economic and financial crisis is pushing thousands of Lebanese to move abroad in search of employment and to improve their living conditions in the face of the lack of public services in Lebanon (electricity, water and transport) and the inflation the country is experiencing,” the study added.
