Yemen: Daily-wage workers are the main victims of war and economic crisis

Media reports have revealed that some find work for one day and remain unemployed for four days, leaving them and their families in a very precarious situation. Faced with this situation, these workers are forced to ask for help from various NGOs.

It is worth noting that prices rose by 100% in Yemen in 2021, which has led to a flagrant increase in the poverty and hunger rates, according to data from the World Food Programme.

The war that has been raging in the country for about seven years has cost the country’s economy $126 billion, according to UN estimates. According to the UN, the majority of the Yemeni population is now dependent on humanitarian aid for their daily lives.
