Under the auspices of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions (GFJTU), the General Trade Union of Workers in Food Industries, and the Jordanian Ice Soda & Pepsi Co signed, on 19 January, a collective employment contract aimed at improving the working environment and living conditions of (900) workers in the company.
The agreement included the company’s obligation to continue paying the 13th and 14th month salaries to all workers, including daily-wage workers, at the end of June and December. The agreement also provided for the payment of annual increases from 1 January 2001 to employees of the professional degree (L3) below the value of 20 dinars, as well as social contributions to women, with custody allowance up to 100 dinars per month for each child under the age of 4 years.
