The General Confederation of Mauritanian Workers (CGTM) has indicated that the company Chinguitel Telecom has arbitrarily dismissed 20 of its executives even though they were on permanent contracts.
In a press release, the CGTM denounced these dismissals, especially since “the telecommunications sector in Mauritania is not one of the sectors most affected by the health crisis” and that Chinguitel has recorded significant profits. Noting that these dismissals are contrary to Article 56 of the Labour Code, CGTM stated that the company still refuses to inform workers’ representatives of its economic situation.
