The Council of State ruled on a request filed by the Library of Alexandria on the possibility of having more than one trade union committee within the Library, considering that it was not allowed.
The case follows a request by the Alexandria Library Workers’ Solidarity Trade Union Committee to the administration to start its activities after obtaining permission from the Ministry of Labour.
The Council of State invoked Article 77 of the constitution, which prohibits the creation of several trade unions for a single profession.
