The secretary-general of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) called on the government to have a social dialogue to preserve the workers’ salaries, warning against the impact of the sharp rise in prices on the value of salaries.
The trade union leader said that recent data published by the Palestinian Centre for Statistics show that salaries have fallen by 22% while 29% of workers are paid less than the minimum wage.
Shaher Sa’ad called on the government to review its policies and strategies to create an attractive working environment for the workforce to avoid working in the Occupied Territories.
