The Algerian government has recently studied a bill to amend the law on trade union rights.
In a statement, the government explained that the amendments aim at making the freedom of union rights and protecting the right to unionize match with those of the International Labour Office.
The bill aims at protecting union representatives against arbitrary dismissal because of their trade union activities. It provides mechanisms for a legal reintegration of the dismissed, in the event the employer refuses to return them.
