Since the beginning of 2015, the war has deprived nearly 1.5 million people from social privileges. By then, food insecurity has been affecting 63% of the population. The total cost of these allocations is estimated at 22.7 billion riyals ($90 million) every three months which forces the workers to accept any working conditions and encourages employers to exploit them.
In addition to COVID-19, many workers were obliged to resort to work in other sectors including restaurants, construction, and car surveying. Teachers and professors work in similar jobs and get exploited.
The liquidity crisis led to the suspension of not only the salaries of state employees, but also a crisis in the state budget leading to economic, social, and humanitarian dangers.
