The Government Spokesperson stated that the Government Council approved a decree to disburse compensation of $220 per month to workers in the tourism sector and related activities affected by COVID-19 between September to December.
The decision is for temporary workers in tourism companies, travel companies, and tourism transport who had contracts before February of last year, and tour guides who settled their professional status with the Ministry of Tourism before the end of this December.
The government announced its readiness to provide support to companies affected by COVID-19, provided that 80% of the workers authorized with the National Social Security Fund since February of last year are maintained, as well as for companies that witnessed a 50% decrease in their transaction number compared to the year preceding the pandemic, provided that the number of employees in those companies does not exceed 500 workers.
The decree comes after Morocco’s decision to close the borders in light of the new Omicron variant, as bookings for the months of November and December were cancelled.
