2,500 workers in the Universal company resumed their strike on December 13, after the administration’s violation of the written agreement signed with the workers on October 9 at the Ministry of Manpower in Cairo.
Workers demand:
- Paying July, August, and September salaries
- Payment of the delayed grants
- Including a clause that prevents transferring workers to different jobs different from theirs
- Applying the articles of labour law No. 12 of 2003 when the company decides to end a worker’s contract
The agreement included:
- The administration will pay the August salary on October 10
- The administration pays the remainder of the month of July to workers who have not paid their full wages for this month (administrative and technicians) on Tuesday 12 October
- The salary for the month of September 2021 was paid in two parts; the first payment on 20 November and the second payment on 25 December for all employees.
