Bahrain: The future of women in the education sector

The Eighth Conference of Working Women, organized annually by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, was concluded on December 12. It was held on two days under the title “the Future of Women in the Education Sector.”

The second panel, chaired by the trade unionist Karim Radhi, addressed job opportunities and women’s employment in the education sector. Key speakers discussed online education in the labour market, and mechanisms for training and preparing women for integration.

In her intervention, Professor Fatima Abu-Driss, a retired director, addressed the issue of privatizing education, and the unemployed women of 1912. She thinks it is unfortunate, especially in a country like Bahrain, referring to the eighties that witnessed initiatives to hire unemployed women teachers of philosophy and sociology and changing their specialties.

On his part, Dr. Hussain Al-Rubay, a university professor, pointed to the ineffectiveness of dealing with the new reality and training in the sector, indicating that women should be experienced in e-learning.
