The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait University Employees’ Trade Union called on the Minister of Higher Education to authorise the payment of the summer semester grant for the academic year 2020-2021. The trade unionist recalled that unlike other years, this year the grant was paid only to the secretary-general of the University, the academic body, the academic assistance body, and the administration executives, thus excluding civil servants and assistant secretaries.
The trade unionist called for the respect of the norms in force and to take into consideration the fact that the civil servants had to give up their summer holidays to ensure the semester in question. He also called for no distinction to be made between administrators and academics, threatening to go on strike if the demand was not met.
