In a statement given to Echorouk TV, members of the National Committee of Foreign Trade, that brings together a large number of importers, expressed their revolt at the bureaucracy in the offices of the National Centre of the Trade Register. The interested parties stated that they are unable to renew their commercial registers, which will be automatically suspended on 31 December 2021 in accordance with Executive Decree No. 21-94, due to internet cuts and the absence of officials. This situation has been going on since last November.
The importers estimated that these “arbitrary and illegal” practices will lead to the closure of more than 5,000 companies and will put more than 20,000 workers out of work. They added that these blockades will lead to a halt in the production of small and medium-sized enterprises and will impact the public treasury as they will no longer be able to pay taxes.
The importers called on the President of the Republic to put an end to these administrative problems, accusing officials of the Ministry of Trade of blocking the renewal of commercial registers of professionals in the sector in order to have a monopoly on imports, which will lead to a significant increase in the price of certain products on the Algerian market.
