After all the efforts to resume peace, workers in the company of Environment; Planting, and Horticulture resumed their protests in Kebili. They demand fixing the company’s financial situation, social security for all workers, implementing the agreement of the session held on November 15, and compensating workers in the waiting list in the area.
Also, protesters, on the national level, are calling for holding a session as soon as possible with the Ministry of Industry to consider the company’s categorization and recruiting the rest of workers.
The Assistant Secretary-General of the regional trade union, in charge of the civil service, Abdeljalil Bouazza, mentioned that “the delay of the regional and national authorities in implementing the previous agreements will only increase tension,” and held them responsible for all the consequences that may result from the protests.
Bouazza suggested including the Environment, Plants and Horticulture Company in one of the branches or the ministries as a way of solving its financial problems, caused by the delay of shareholders in transferring their contributions to the capital, namely the National Exploration Company and the Tunisian Company for the Distribution of Hydrocarbons. The problem caused the loss of the amount transferred by the regional council to the company, which is the state’s contribution to its capital, estimated at one million and 700,000 dinars.
It is worth noting that, during the past few days, trade unions in the region have issued statements to support workers of the company, including the Basic Syndicate of Ministry of Interior Agents and Employees, the regional branch of the health federation, the Syndicate for Vocational Training Agents, the Syndicate of Secondary Education, and many others.
