Phosphate mine workers in Meknassi closed public administrations, set fire to tyres, and blocked the national road 14 which links Gafsa and Sfax. The protesters also threatened to block the railway line 13.
Organised on 26 November, these protests aim to force the release of the miners arrested on 23 November in Kairouan as they were returning from a negotiation session with the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.
The protesters, also, demand to be integrated into the Gafsa company and the payment of their salaries, which have been blocked for seven months. In this context, they affirmed that their protests will continue until all their demands are met.
