Workers and retirees of the Jordan Cement Factory protested in front of the Judicial Council on Sunday 10 October to call for the cancellation of the decisions taken on the company’s plants.
The protesters submitted a letter to the president of the Judicial Council containing the abuses committed by the company’s administration under the insolvency law (a commercial bankruptcy law that aims to help companies in difficulty).
In their letter, the protesters stated that the company does not respect the labour law, the internal regulations, and the agreements signed with the trade union party. They added that the administration is making several violations, particularly with regard to health insurance, the payment of salaries and grants, and the management of holidays.
It is worth noting that the workers of the Jordan Cement Factory have been on strike for more than two weeks to denounce the violation of their rights and the restructuring plan that will put more than 70 employees into early retirement.
