Morocco: International transport truck drivers protest

On October 28, 2021, the Land Transport Trade Union protested, in front of the consulates of Spain and France, against the Spanish and French authorities’ refusal to give visas to Moroccan international transport workers.

The head of the Moroccan Association of National and International Transport, affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour, explained that the refusal to grant visas to Moroccan international transport drivers left workers and 1,400 trucks without work. However, the entry of foreign transport drivers increased and exceeded the agreement concluded between the Moroccan and Spanish and French authorities.

The trade union official indicated that the files of Moroccan transport drivers have been rejected more than once by the two consulates and that they have been in this state for four months. The protestors asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs to intervene to find a solution to this problem.
