The General Union of Oil and Gas Workers, in a statement to the government, demanded the approval of an increase in the salaries of workers in the oil sector. The union expressed its dissatisfaction with the government’s policies of increasing the salaries of workers in other sectors except the oil and gas sector.
The union sent several correspondences to hold meetings to negotiate the workers’ demands, but to no avail.
It is worth noting that the statement issued by the union is the second one in few days. It threatened in a previous statement issued on October 08, to have a comprehensive strike and close the oil facilities, mentioning that the strike could include oil sites and fields throughout the country.
