The administration of the Jordanian Company for Cement Factories Lafarge in Al-Rashadiya continues to ignore the demands of its workers who have been protesting for more than a month.
The workers are calling for a revision of the post-default plan that seeks to refer more than 70 workers to early retirement and cancelling many labour privileges such as solidarity funds and loans, and introducing amendments to the health insurance that will deprive children of workers and retirees of its services.
The General Syndicate of Construction Workers filed a case to repay the company’s default phase due to its insufficient resources to pay its debts according to the syndicate.
The head of the union committee in the Al-Rashadiya factory told the Jordanian Labour Observatory that the workers insisted on continuing the strike until the administration retracts the reorganization plan, which he stated aims only at violating the workers’ rights.
