On October 13, the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions and representatives of employers and civil society institutions, discussed the amendments to the Social Security Law.
The meeting is part of a series of discussion dialogues organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on social protection aimed at promoting social dialogue.
The two members of the union participating in the meeting, the head of the Electricity Syndicate and the head of the Food Industries Syndicate, presented the union’s view on the proposed amendments to the Social Security Law, and stressed that any amendments to the law must consider the interest of the workers, provide them with the necessary social protection, and discuss it under the Social Security Board.
The two union members emphasized that workers are encouraged to work and not opt for early retirement in hopes of improving the work environment, decent work conditions, salary increase, and ensuring job security.
