The Free Confederation of Workers of Mauritania (CLTM) and the General Confederation of Mauritanian Workers (CGTM) issued a joint statement on 8 September calling for a salary increase for workers and civil servants.
In their statement, the CLTM and the CGTM accused the government of having failed to control COVID-19, leading to an economic crisis. The two confederations warned of the impacts of inflation on workers.
They called on the government to take urgent measures to improve the living standards of all citizens.
