Egypt: Worker attempts suicide after being dismissed from Samanoud Company

The Centre for Trade Union & Workers’ Services (CTUWS) denounced the arbitrary dismissal of a worker from Samanoud company.

 

The worker attempted to throw himself from the fifth floor of one of the company’s buildings before his colleagues could catch him and prevent him from committing suicide.

 

The worker attempted to commit suicide after the company informed him that his contract expired on 15 September and that he had three months before the notice period for dismissal.

 

CTUWS recalled that the company made several arbitrary dismissals including 8 workers who had organised a protest.
