On 8 September, a sand slide occurred in Terminal 2 of the Kuwait airport construction site. Two Nepalese workers died in the accident. A third worker was saved by rescue teams after spending 4 hours under the rubble.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, responsible for the construction project, appointed a committee, made up of representatives from Kuwait University and the city’s municipality, to investigate the reasons for the accident and to check the contractor’s compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
