Mauritania: Port of Nouadhibou transporters end their strike

Representatives of the employers and workers of the port of Nouadhibou reached a new agreement which has put an end to the strike of the port’s transporters.

The strike, which began on 7 August, was lifted after the two parties agreed to increase the wages of the transporters by 5% and to give them a monthly grant of 2,500 ouguiyas for regular workers and 2,000 ouguiyas for contractual workers. It has been agreed to increase the transport grant to 50 ouguiyas and the productivity grant to 50 ouguiyas. This agreement will start on 1 October 2021.
