The General Confederation of Lebanese Workers (CGTL) considered that if lifting the immunity of parliamentarians will not take place, all constitutional institutions, including the parliament, will be dissolved.
The decision was taken after the failure of the Parliament to present three former ministers to the judiciary in the devastating Beirut Port Explosion on August 4, 2020.
In a statement issued on July 10, 2021, CGTL demanded the lifting of the immunity of the accused, stressing that the Lebanese people will support the victims of the explosion and their families.
